Simon Nadin becomes general manager of Siemens Mechanical Drives

Simon Nadin joined Siemens Industry Automation & Drive Technologies’ Mechanical Drives (MD) Division as general manager in July, replacing Nick Garthwaite, who has left the Siemens group.

One of Simon’s first tasks has been to successfully relocate the manufacturing facility from its Bradford base to a new purpose-built factory in Leeds, with more space and improved facilities, increasing the Siemens group’s commitment to manufacturing and emerging new technologies in the UK.

Simon joined Siemens in 1998, and has built up a strong track record of achievement in both the UK and Germany, within the fields of production and process management. He was previously based at the company’s world drives factory in Congleton.

He commented: “The MD business is very well established in the UK with highly respected customers and world-leading products in gear units, geared motors and couplings. We have some exciting new developments in emerging and green technologies, along with increasing synergy with other brand-leading Siemens products and systems. Our new factory in Leeds will help us improve the value proposition to our customers through enhanced product benefits and higher levels of service.”

Simon is passionate about British manufacturing and redressing the balance in the economy. He believes that with the right strategy and investment it is possible to be successful in the current economic climate. He stated: “A relentless commitment to process improvement is an essential part of our business DNA. Without this focus, we open the door to competition.”

Simon is married with two daughters and is in the process of relocating back to his Yorkshire roots from the Cheshire area.
