savings as summer sizzles!
English Heritage offers 2-for-1 tickets at sites across the North
With the sun shining (for the moment at least), people taking advantage of the heatwave and looking for days out before the rush of the school summer holidays will be able to benefit from discounted entry at a number of sites across Yorkshire, Cumbria and the North East with English Heritage’s heatwave offer this July.
From Birdoswald Roman Fort on Hadrian’s Wall in the North to Conisborough Castle, near Doncaster in South Yorkshire, visitors can download vouchers to save on some of the most iconic sites across the region, from sites of pilgrimage including Lindisfarne Priory, Rievaulx Abbey and Whitby Abbey, to the once-great fortifications of Carlisle Castle and Clifford’s Tower in York, which offers breathtaking panoramic views across the city from its location atop a man-made mound.
“The sun is out, and we’re hoping that this spell of daytime dry weather continues for a few weeks, so that sun-lovers who prefer to avoid the peak school summer holiday periods can come and enjoy our top sites at a quieter time,” comments English Heritage’s regional marketing manager, Caroline Sinclair. “With an increasing number of people looking for great value days out, and forgoing their summer holidays abroad to save some money this year, this is a wonderful way to enjoy some of the North’s finest historic sites without breaking the bank!”
The 2-for-1 offer is valid at eight sites from today until 17 July:
