Three years’ development work by Middlesbrough-based Polar in conjunction with Kawneer has resulted in a unique anti-ligature window that is experiencing take-up by several NHS Trusts and NHS contractors.
The specially designed AA 3110 Healthcare Solution window maximises natural light and ventilation while minimising the risk of self-harming for patients. Polar has won a number of projects from NHS Trusts in the North East of England and Scotland, including Tees, Esk & Wear Valleys NHS Foundation Trust, Bradford District NHS Care Trust and Sheffield NHS Trust.
Polar has also worked in conjunction with Laing O’Rourke on several anti-ligature window projects for Northumberland Tyne & Wear NHS Trust, including Gosforth, Gateshead & South Tyneside (Hebburn), Prudhoe and Morpeth, as well as Middlesbrough for Tees, Esk & Wear Valleys NHS Foundation Trust. In North Lincolnshire Polar worked with Interserve at the Peaks Lane Mental Health Unit in Grimsby for North Lincs NHS Care Trust Plus, while in Scotland Polar worked with Yorkon at the Carseview Centre in Dundee for Tayside NHS Mental Health Tribunal Scotland, and is shortly starting work with Laing O’Rourke at the Dumfries and Galloway Acute Mental Health Unit.
