2-5 April 2010
The weather is getting warmer, the leaves are returning to the trees and the wildlife is waking from winter slumber – and English Heritage is hosting fun family trails at it South Yorkshire sites, Brodsworth Hall & Conisbrough, to ensure Easter fun for all!
From Good Friday (2 April) until Easter Monday (5 April), young visitors to Brodsworth Hall will be encouraged to scour the gardens to find a number of Easter eggs hidden behind benches, shrubs and trees and decode a secret message left for them by the Easter bunny! Anyone completing the Easter trail can whisper the answer to a member of the site team to claim their delicious chocolate treat!
Meanwhile, over at Conisbrough Castle, from Saturday 3 April to Easter Monday 5 April, it is Victorian fairies that the visitors will have to seek out around the site said to inspire Walter Scott’s classic novel Ivanhoe! Miniature model fairies will be hiding in nooks and crannies around the castle, and anyone finding them all will receive a yummy Easter prize.
“Easter is traditionally the time when people start heading out to look for great days out, and both Brodsworth Hall and Conisbrough Castle promise fun in abundance!” says regional marketing manager, Nicola Bexon. “The adventure playground and the chance to spot the wildlife returning to the gardens make Brodsworth a must-visit, whilst the romantic ruins of Conisborough Castle will no doubt stoke the imagination of many a young knight or princess!”
The Easter trails kick off a fantastic season of events for both sites, including band concerts every Sunday from June to September at Brodsworth Hall, and have-a-go archery, knights and even a visit from Robin Hood planned for Conisborough Castle.
