Even more events from English Heritage this Bank Holiday Weekend

If you don't fancy Whitby Abbey's 'Pirate Weekend' or Richmond Castle's 'Soldiers of the Roses' this Bank Holiday weekend, then look no further than English Heritage’s Yorkshire sites for fun and inspiration!

Clifford’s Tower, York
The Bank Holiday Weekend is your last chance to join the Time Travellers as they look at the gruesome subject of medieval crime and punishment! If you fancy spending some time in the stocks or pillory, or just want to learn what your crime would be if you were a highwayman, thief or political radical, head up the 55 steps to Clifford’s Tower! Open from 10.00am to 6.00pm, with Time Travellers Go… Gruesome running daily from 11am to 5pm. Admission prices are £3.50 for adults, £3.00 for concessions and £1.80 for children, or £8.80 for a family ticket (two adults and up to three children). English Heritage members get in free!

Rievaulx Abbey, near Helmsley
Enjoy a relaxing walk around the ruins of this once great Cistercian abbey, whilst hunting for the herbs that the monks would have used to flavour food and soothe minor ailments in a fun trail for adults and parents alike. And don’t forget to pop into the Tea Room for delicious, home cooked local meals, snacks and drinks. Rievaulx Abbey is open daily 10.00am to 6.00pm, admission prices are £5.30 for adults, £4.50 for concessions and £2.70 for children. English Heritage members get in free!

Brodsworth Hall & Gardens, near Doncaster
On Sunday 29 August, classic and vintage cars return to Brodsworth Hall for a day of automobile nostalgia set against the backdrop of this Victorian country house. Plus, enjoy the summer flowering displays in the restored ‘grand gardens in miniature’, exploring the formal gardens, fern dell and wild rose collection. And keep an eye out for the beautiful Brodsworth statues – rumour has it that they sometimes come to life…! Admission prices for the garden are £5.30 for adults, £43.70 for concession and £2.70 for children (extra for the Hall). English Heritage members get in free!

Scarborough Castle
Every day during the summer, Scarborough Castle has been hosting its Time Travellers Go… Medieval Knights and Princess School, and over the bank holiday weekend itself, meet the castle’s Fighting Knights, when a pair of fully armoured medieval knights embark on hand to hand combat with sword and poleaxe! Regular skirmishes throughout the day from 11.00am to 5.00pm. £4.70 for adults, £4.00 for concessions and £2.40 for children, or £11.80 for a family ticket, English Heritage members get in free.
