UPlus Scottish
Depot now open
UPlus opened its Scottish depot on 29 July 2010 with a special event including demonstrations of PolyHorse, TracStar and POLYFUSE+ attracting many Scottish based customers and prospects including Scottish Water and Scottish Gas Networks.
The depot offers a range of services and products to the natural gas, LPG, water and wastewater utilities and private clients. UPlus’ portfolio of expertise extends to public and private sector works, large and small projects and specialist areas such as licensed nuclear sites and marine environments. Matt Ferguson, Team Manager at Scottish Gas Network, said: “This depot will be a good asset for us. The people are local so we know the people we are dealing with and we will now have the development and materials that we need on hand.”
Ian Shanks, UPlus Livingston Depot Manager added: “Being locally based we can help solve our clients’ onsite design problems face-to-face and with product on the shelf, customers only need to take a small amount of time out of their day to pick up what they need. Just today, we’ve had productive discussions with customers about the installation of branch saddles as a cheaper solution to ductile iron tees and the overall benefits of PE flow stop on gas main infrastructures and we look forward to having many more.”
Dave Sykes, UPlus Manager said: “It’s great to see so many new and familiar faces and the launch exceeded our expectations. We’re the first manufacturer to employ Scottish people in a Scottish depot to service local contracts and the success of this event shows the high level of interest in the services and products that we offer.”
PSS demonstrated the new error lockout of POLYFUSE+ electrofusion box in conjunction with the PROVE-IT CLAMP which sends a text message to the manager whenever the box confirms the joint or installation has failed. PSS also demonstrated the PolyHorse in conjunction with a TracStar butt fusion machine, which allows a more productive way of storing pipe onsite while reducing manpower and expenses and can provide up to a 150% increase in productivity. These products will be available to purchase or hire from UPlus Livingston.
