The hunt is on!  Ghost trail at Witley Court & Gardens

Monday 24 – Sunday 30 October 2011

With lots of spook-ulation that a new Ghostbusters movie might be on the horizon, Witley Court & Gardens will be inviting visitors to hone their ghost-hunting skills this half term holiday, with a spectral trail around the old Victorian ruins.

Every day, intrepid young ghost hunters will be challenged to find all the ghosts hiding in rooms around the once-great house, armed only with a trail sheet and their wits!

“People often refer to the ruins at Witley Court as ‘haunting’ as you can imagine how this fantastic country house would have looked and still see remnants of its former splendour, but for one week only ‘haunting’ becomes ‘haunted’ as there will be ghosts, spectres and ghouls lurking in some of the rooms, just waiting to be discovered!” says Witley Court’s visitor operations manager, Spencer Trickett. “Anyone discovering all of the spooks will be rewarded with a fiendishly-tasty treat when they return to the Visitor Centre.”

Throughout the half term break, Witley Court’s education room will also be transformed into the ‘Schoolroom of Doom’, with fun activities to make and do following the Halloween theme. Visitors can also wander around the new woodland trail, which opened earlier this year, keeping their eyes open for any wild beasts prowling around the forest!

The trail runs each day from 11.00am to 4.00pm, with the site additionally open from 10.00am to 5.00pm. Admission prices are £6.30 for adults, £5.70 for concessions, £3.80 for children and £16.40 for a family ticket (two adults and up to three children). English Heritage members get in free.
