Case study - Uponor issues management PUTTING THE RECORD STRAIGHTThe Environment, Transport & Regional Affairs Committee’s 1998 report on ‘Sewage Treatment & Disposal’ only took evidence on pipe suitability from the clay and concrete pipe lobby and raised questions about the suitability of plastic pipes. Fast action was needed, and Footprint worked with Uponor to quickly produce video evidence proving the case for plastic sewer pipe. A video was sent to every MP with an interest in the building industry, as well as every MP in every constituency that a Uponor employee lived in. Each video had an accompanying information leaflet and reply card to be forwarded to the committee chair, who ended up swamped by hundreds of videos and letters. The result? The Government ultimately rejected the report, saying ‘there is no reason to believe that modern materials, such as suitably designed and constituted plastic pipes, are not suitable for the purpose.’
