Case study - Heritage Open Days

In 2004, Footprint was invited to present a training session for participants in English Heritage’s Heritage Open Day scheme in Yorkshire.  The aim was to give general, helpful advice to members of the public involved in opening up historic properties to promote their Heritage Open Day events cheaply and effectively.

The session was so successful that Footprint was invited back in 2005 to train English Heritage’s national outreach team to deliver a similar presentation.  In a one-day programme, Footprint used a combination of group tasks, demonstrations and discussion to give the outreach workers the confidence and knowledge to be able to advise HOD participants on marketing their events, and working with the media to maximise publicity for them.
